All Inclusive Sarajevo continues its travels around the region – this time it will be presented at the European Center for Culture and Debate GRAD from the 22nd until the 24th of March. The opening will be on March 22nd at 8 p.m.

What is the All Inclusive Sarajevo Project?

The idea of this project is to start a collaboration between designers with innovative ideas and exceptional craftsmen working for different organizations that employ disabled people to codesign a collection of designer products.It came from Sarajevo designers from Kulturanti association and it was accepted at the famous Helen Hamlyn Centre of the Royal College of Art in London that holds similar workshops worldwide.

All Inclusive Sarajevo workshop will be held from May 25 to 29, 2009 in Sarajevo and is organized by the Kulturanti association from Sarajevo and Helen Hamlyn Centre. The project was awarded a grant under the Creative Collaborations project fund of the British Council. Local partners and workshop participants are the following companies employing persons with disabilities: Librag, Association of Deaf and Hard of Hearing of Canton Sarajevo, Pismolik, the Center for Self-Reliance and  Academy of Fine Arts, University of Sarajevo. Other partners are the Association of Blind of Canton Sarajevo, Association of Paraplegics and Persons with Infantile Paralysis of Canton Sarajevo and Kulturni Front from Belgrade.

Šta je projekat All Inclusive Sarajevo?

Cilj ovog projekta je da se uspostavi saradnja između dizajnera sa inovativnim idejama i vještih zanatlija koje rade u različitim preduzećima koja zapošljavaju osobe sa posebnim potrebama, kako bi sudizajnirali kolekciju dizajnerskih proizvoda. Zamisao o ovom projektu potekla je od sarajevskih dizajnera iz udruženja Kulturanti, a prihvaćena je u poznatom londonskom Centru Helen Hamlyn pri Kraljevskoj akademiji u Londonu, koji slične radionice ima širom svijeta.

Radionica All Inclusive Sarajevo biće održana od 25. do 29. maja ove godine u Sarajevu. Radionicu organizuje Udruženje Kulturanti i Centar Helen Hamlyn. Projekat finansira Britanski savjet kroz fond za finansiranje kreativnih projekata Creative Collaborations. Lokalni partneri i učesnici radionice su slijedeća preduzeća koja zapošljavaju osobe sa posebnim potrebama: Librag, Udruženje gluhih i nagluhih Kantona Sarajevo, Pismolik, Centar za samopouzdanje i Akademija likovnih umjetnosti, Univerzitet u Sarajevu. Ostali partneri su Udruženje slijepih Kantona Sarajevo, Udruženje paraplegičara i oboljelih od dječije paralize Kantona Sarajevo i Kulturni Front iz Beograda.

Julia Cassim Visits Sarajevo

A public presentation of All Inclusive Sarajevo Project was held in late March at the British Council premises.

At the Sarajevo presentation, Julia Cassim, a Senior Research Fellow at the Helen Hamlyn Centre of the Royal College of Art in London, presented this institution’s work, the program of the past workshops and the principles on which the All Inclusive Sarajevo project is going to be realized. On the second day, Julia Cassim held a lecture at the Academy of Fine Arts and later visited the partner companies employing people with disabilities.

Four UK Team Leaders Chosen for the Workshop!

They are: Bernadette Deddens, Gero Grundmann, Guy Robinson and Matthew Harrison.

Four designers who have graduated from the Royal College of Art and trained at the Helen Hamlyn Centre have confirmed that their participation as team leader of the Workshop.

Bernadette Deddens, a fashion accessories designer who collaborates with fashion designers and works on self initiated projects from her London-based studio, will be working with her team to design products for the Association of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing of Canton Sarajevo. Gero Grundmann, a graphic and communication designer, Research Associate of the Helen Hamlyn Centre and co-founder of Studio Bec and his team will be working on creating a collection of graphic products for Pismolik. The team working to design metal products for Librag will be lead by Guy Robinson, co-founder of Sprout Design Ltd. which focuses on innovative and responsibly designed products in the areas of sustainable and inclusive design. Matthew Harrison, who co-founded Studiohead, which has undertaken a wide range of projects, with a particular emphasis on user-centered design, will be leading the team that will design leather products for the Center for Self-Reliance.
