Our aim was to create a sustainable design-centered business model for a skilled leather craftsman Damir Husejnović, which utilizes and promotes a network of various craft skills though the Center for Self-reliance. The team of mixed-discipline designers worked together to design a unique and attractive leather bag, that would become the signature style for the project going forwards. The design uses the high quality leather work of Damir Husejnović, in combination with a variety of fabrics created by the other members of the Center. The result is a simple design, but one that allows each bag produced to be unique and highly treasured.
The business intention is not to create a model that relies on increasing the number of bags produced, but instead greatly increases the retail value and profit for each item. To do this we created a bag that was simple, lasting, highly-treasured, and personal.
The design is a simple ladies two- pocket shoulder bag with detachable straps. The bag can be inverted so that the exterior surface is either the simple, elegant and durable leather, or the highly individual and vibrant hand-painted silk. The straps can also be attached to the bag in a variety of combinations, to maximize the comfort of the bag to as many people and as many situations as possible. The design allows for single or double shoulder support, expansion and contraction of the bag, and back-pack style wearing with storage for an umbrella, jumper or scarf at its base.

Cilj nam je bio kreirati održiv poslovni model baziran na dizajnu, za vještog zanatliju Damira Husejnovića, koji kroz Centar za samopouzdanje koristi i promovira mrežu različitih zanatskih vještina. Tim dizajnera različitih specijalnosti zajedno je radio na dizajnu unikatne i atraktivne kožne torbe koja postaje osnov prepoznatljivog stila. Dizajn koristi visoko kvalitetne kožne proizvode Damira Husejnovića, u kombinaciji s različitim materijalima koje su kreirali ostali članovi Centra. Rezultat je jednostavan dizajn, ali takav koji omogućava unikatnost i visoku cijenjenost svake proizvedene torbe.
Namjera nam je bila kreirati model poslovanja koji se oslanja na povećanje vrijednosti robe i njene maloprodajne cijene, kao i dobiti ostvarene po prodatoj torbi. Da bi smo tome uspjeli, kreirali smo torbu jednostavnu, trajnu, visoko cijenjenu, i personalnu. Dizajnirana je jednostavna ženska torba s dva džepa, koja se nosi s ramena na kaišima koji se mogu skinuti. Ova torba se može izvrnuti tako da svana bude jednostavna, elegantna i izdržljiva koža, ili vrlo individualna i vibrantna svila oslikana rukom. Kaiševi se također na torbu mogu dodati u najrazličitijim kombinacijama, čime se osigurava maksimalna udobnost u različitim situacijama i različitim klijentima. Ovaj dizajn omogućava jednostruki ili dvostruki remen, proširivanje i smanjivanje torbe, nošenje u stilu ruksaka, s prostorom na dnu predviđenim za nošenje kišobrana, džempera ili šala.

Superlik (lit. super character/super-dude) is a new designer goods label, created by designers from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and the United Kingdom teamed up with the highly skilled deaf-mute makers of graphic products manufacturer Pismolik. Pismolik has a large number of competitors, receives no support for employing disabled makers, and its employees feel unable to fulfill their creative potential.
Using the experience and energy of Pismolik’s team and the designers, the team created prototypes for home and work products, fashion items and accessories. Among them were organic fruit bowls, photo frames and lamp shades, geometric office trays, pen holders and decorative name signs, as well as a range of contemporary designer t-shirts inspired by Bosnia’s crafts heritage. Many of the products were actually made from Pismolik’s production waste materials.
The new generation of products for the consumer and business market will be sold under the label Superlik (lit. super character/super-dude). It launches Pismolik’s transformation into an inclusive, design-led company, creating highly individual products and forming new creative networks. The venture aims to set an example for other local and regional businesses.

Superlik je nova marka dizajnerskih proizvoda, koju su kreirali dizajneri iz Bosne i Hercegovine, Hrvatske i Ujedinjenog Kraljevstva udruženi s izuzetno vještim gluhim majstorima zaposlenim u Pismoliku, preduzeću za izradu svih vrsta natpisa. Pismolik ima brojne konkurente, ne prima nikakve dotacije za upošljavanje radnika s tjelesnim oštećenjem, i njegovi se uposlenici ne osjećaju da imaju mogućnost ispuniti svoj kreativni potencijal.
Koristeći iskustvo i energiju tima iz Pismolika i dizajnera, ovaj tim je kreirao prototipove proizvoda za kuću i radne prostore, odjeću i modne dodatke. Među njima su organske zdjele za voće, okviri za slike i zasloni za lampe, elementi geometrijske kancelarijske opreme, držači za olovke I dekorativne oznake s imenima, kao i asortiman savremenih dizajnerskih majica inspiriranih bosanskohercegovačkim zanatskim naslijeđem. Mnogi od ovih proizvoda su napravljeni od Pismolikovog otpadnog materijala.
Nova generacija proizvoda za veleprodaju i maloprodaju prodavat će se pod markom Superlik. Ovim proizvodima Pismolik se lansira kao preduzeće transformirano u inkluzivnu organizaciju čiji se rad rukovodi dizajnom, koje kreira individualizirane proizvode i obrazuje nove kreativne mreže. Ovaj poduhvat ima za cilj postaviti se kao primjer ostalim lokalnim i regionalnim preduzećima.

You can do a lot in a week. With that knowledge we sat down together and started talking about possibilities for what we would do together. We had a great team, lots of experience and fine skills from Librag.
We presented a range of products to show opportunities, directions that could be developed after the workshop by the students and staff at the academy and the craftsmen at Librag. The key to most of our work was to develop the best skills available to us, and those were in folding and working sheet metal, and only to use welding for structural elements that would not be seen. And I think that is what we achieved.
The Giant Lamp was meant as a reflection on past lighting projects undertaken by Librag, but mainly was to show the possibilities for building large and cheap armatures that can be covered with material for various applications.
We developed a collection of furniture, developing the folded joins used for guttering and creating high value objects from a traditionally low value material. Inspired by the outdoor café culture of the city, we felt we could develop an aesthetic and practical solution for indoor and outdoor furniture. Also using folded sheet material, ranges of vessels reflecting the city were developed. Referencing the tradition of copper craft, modern vessels were designed and decorated using etching in collaboration with Pismolik. The drawings depict the faces of the characters of Sarajevo.
The final product developed was created from a direct observation of the habits of the people of Sarajevo. The ashtray paving slab, allow people to continue with existing habits of smoking and stubbing out their cigarettes on the floor, whilst keeping the city clean.

Mnogo se toga može postići za sedam dana. S tim ubjeđenjem sjeli smo i započeli razgovarati o mogućim rezultatima našeg rada. Imali smo izvrstan tim, obilno iskustvo i izvrsne vještine radnika Libraga.
Napravili smo seriju proizvoda, te definisali načine i smjerove u kojima bi ih studenti i nastavnici Akademije i zanatlije u Libragu mogli razvijati nakon radionice. Ključ gotovo svega što smo uradili jeste maksimalna iskorištenost raspoloživih vještina, a to su savijanje i obrada metalnih limova, dok bi zavarivanje koristili samo za elemente koji se ne vide.
Gigantska lampa osmišljena je kao odraz ranijih Libragovih projekata izrade rasvjetnih tijela, ali najviše stoga da pokažemo mogućnosti jeftine izgradnje velikih armatura koje se, pokrivene različitim materijalima, mogu koristiti u različite svrhe.
Kreirali smo liniju namještaja, koristeći materijal i tehnike za izradu oluka i stvarajući predmete visoke vrijednosti od tradicionalno jeftinih materijala.
Inspirirani gradskim običajem sjedenja ispred kafića, smatrali smo da možemo ponuditi estetsko i praktično rješenje za unutarnje i vanjsko uređenje. Inspirirani ovim gradom, sačinili smo čitav asortiman posuda od savijenih limova. Nadovezujući se na tradiciju obrade bakra, dizajnirali smo modern posude i, u saradnji s Pismolikom, ukrasili ih gravurama. Crteži prikazuju lica sarajlija.
Finalni produkt kreiran je na osnovu direktnih zapažanja o običajima stanovnika Sarajeva. Pepeljara ugrađena u pločnik omogućila bi pušačima da nastave s postojećim navikama gašenja cigareta na pločniku, a da grad uprkos tome ostane čist.

We’ve created a šNIT, a brand and idea on which we based our collection of accessories. We created multi-dimensional products (modular, reversible, connectable, changeable) with simple shapes that can be filled using different techniques. We thought, shared ideas, made things, and shared expertise. We combined handcraft with cleverly designed products that are changeable and products that you could add parts to. Underlined by the economic atmosphere it seemed right to make multi-functional products.
The collection of prototyped products ranges from accessories to home interior products, we made prototypes for bags, gloves, scarves, braces, boxes and blankets.
Developing modular products also gave way to a marketing scheme. It allowed us to make different parts at different price points: we used crochet, and printed on printed using modular stamps with motifs based on crochet and plain fabric. For example, in the series of nesting bags, the smallest could be in crochet, the middle sized one can be stamped, the largest one is made out of plain fabric; the consumer chooses.

Kreirali smo šNIT, brend i ideju na kojima smo zasnovali svoju kolekciju modnih dodataka. Kreirali smo multidimenzionalne proizvode (modularne, s dva lica, s mogućnošću povezivanja i mijenjanja) jednostavnih oblika koji se mogu popuniti upotrebom različitih tehnika.
Razmišljali smo, razmjenjivali ideje, izrađivali predmete, i razmjenjivali iskustva. Kombinovali smo predmete ručne izrade s vješto dizajniranim proizvodima koji se mogu mijenjati i proizvode na koje se dijelovi mogu dodavati.
Kolekcija prototipskih proizvoda obuhvata modne dodatke kao i proizvode za domaćinstvo; sačinili smo prototipove za torbe, rukavice, šalove, tregere, kutije i pokrivače. Razvoj modularnih proizvoda odredio je i marketinšku shemu. Ovakav pristup omogućio nam je proizvodnju različitih dijelova po različitim cijenama: koristili smo kukičane čipke, platno odštampano modularnim pečatima s motivima kukičanih čipki te obično platno, bez aplikacija. U seriji torbi, naprimjer, koje se slažu jedna u drugu, najmanja bi mogla biti kukičana, srednja štampana, a najveća od obične tkanine; klijent bira šta mu odgovara.

Designgoods is an umbrella brand covering all products designed under the All Inclusive Sarajevo project. The brand encompasses products developed by designers and disabled craftsmen or other groups who usually do not have the chance to collaborate. The products were developed and manufactured under fair conditions for all parties, so that by purchasing such a product, one contributes to the local community.

Dizajndobra je brend koji obuhvata sve proizvode dizajnirane u okviru projekta All Inclusive Sarajevo. Obuhvata dobra u čijoj su kreaciji učestvovali dizajneri i zanatlije s umanjenim sposobnostima ili pripadnici drugih grupa koje inače nemaju prilike sarađivati. Ovi proizvodi se osmišljavaju i proizvode pod uslovima pravednim za sve učesnike, te tako kupovinom ovakvog proizvoda pojedinac pridonosi dobrobiti lokalne zajednice.
